Customer Data Platform (CDP)
A customer data platform (CDP) is software that collects customer data from many sources, unifies it into persistent profiles, and makes those profiles available to other tools. It gives marketing and data teams a central, owned source of truth for first-party data.
A CDP typically ingests data, performs identity resolution, builds segments, and syncs audiences to downstream channels. Its defining trait is creating a unified, accessible customer profile.
CDPs are one common home for a first-party data foundation, alongside data warehouses. The right choice depends on your stack, but the goal is the same: owned, central, connected data that activation tools read from.
